BACKGROUND
The ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) was officially launched by the ASEAN Leaders in November 2012, during the 21st ASEAN Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was established to be an ASEAN institution mandated for research activities on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution. ASEAN-IPR is listed in Annex 2 of the ASEAN Charter, as an “Entity Associated with ASEAN”, under the category of ‘Think Tanks
and Academic Institutions’.

About SUAKA

SUAKA is an Indonesian Non-Governmental Organization focusing on the protection of refugee rights in Indonesia. SUAKA has been formally registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in 2019 as an association.

SUAKA started with a small team of volunteers and recently expanded with 6 board members, including 3 full-time staff. SUAKA’s volunteers have been supporting SUAKA’s works since its early days. CSIS is seeking a full-time research intern from March 2021 to September 2021 to support the CSIS Reconnecting Asia Project–an initiative that analyses the evolving digital, transport, and energy connectivity of Eurasia, including China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The team’s research has been featured in outlets such as the Financial Times, the Economist, and National Geographic. The position is research and data entry intensive and therefore requires excellent time management skills and careful attention to detail. Candidates should function well in a fast-paced team environment, adapt quickly to a wide variety of research and analytical tasks, and have strong written and oral communications skills. Team members will have regular opportunities to contribute research, input, and ideas for analytical pieces.
