- Energy Program
WRI Indonesia accelerates the transition to a clean energy future through innovative solutions in clean energy governance and market mechanism that is transparent, inclusive, and fair. We bring together stakeholders from national and sub-national government, business sector, and civil society to achieve our shared goals. Our studies and projects focus on spurring cleaner energy markets through public-private partnerships, recommending policy inputs in the energy governance, improving data reliability, and mobilizing investment. There are several initiatives under the energy program, such as: Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA), Energy Transition Program, Energy Innovation and Access, and Bali EV Program.
- Climate & Cities Programs
WRI Indonesia seeks to further assist the Indonesian government in meeting and beating its climate commitments in order to ensure successful transition to low-carbon development. On top of this, we engage businesses and civil societies at the local, national and international levels to advance transformative solutions that mitigate climate change and help communities adapt to its impacts. Several initiatives under this program includes: Low Carbon Development Initiative (LCDI), Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Emission Reduction and Sequestration initiative (EMISI), Cities4Forests, etc.
Job Responsibilities
Below is the breakdown of the responsibilities of the Legal Analyst:
- Conduct regular legal review on legal documents such as contract, MoU, partner’s legal documents, donor documents, etc.
- Assist the team in terms of legal advisory or guidance for their analysis and advocacy efforts under climate, energy, cities, and ocean program
- Contribute to cross-programs general legal support for the WRI Indonesia office.
- Contribute to presentations and proposals development from legal perspective.
- Prepare and co-author knowledge products and other communication or advocacy documents ( e.g. report, policy brief, blog, position paper, press release, op-ed, etc.).
Qualifications
- Legally able to work in Indonesia;
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law or public policy or other related fields;
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in legal, governance, policy development, policy advise field with strong research in the area of energy, environment and development.
- Exceptionally good communication and writing skills including fluency in English (oral and written) and Indonesian (oral and written).
- Direct hands-on experience in conducting desk and field research, writing reviews and reports in the area of energy, land use management or natural resource governance.
- Very strong analytical commitment to deliver on deadlines.
- Highly responsible, self-motivated, and ability to work calmly and enthusiastically under tight timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent inter-personal communication skills with government, private sectors, NGOs counterparts.
- Highly motivated, proactive work style and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to travel when needed
Deliverables
Monthly consolidated report on delivery, achievement, and lessons learned on:
- Successful completion of legal review and opinion cross climate, energy, and cities program
- Successful completion of legal assistance for analysis on cross climate, energy, and cities program
- Successful completion of legal assistance for fundraising activities
- At least 1 co-author knowledge products and other communication or advocacy documents ( e.g. report, policy brief, blog, position paper, press release, op-ed, etc.).
