Job Description
This role reports to legal head of APAC and will be mainly responsible to provide legal support to Indonesian subsidiary, and other legal matters within APAC region (Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong, Australia, new Zealand, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Philippines and other APAC countries). You will have a chance to work with a legal team based separately in Germany, Italy, Egypt, Singapore, America, Mexico, Russia.
Responsibilities:
- Structuring, drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreement with third party.
- Working closely and building relationships with multiple business units across Midea Group and across our APAC region.
- Advising on a wide range of legal matters and ad hoc problems, including employment, compliance, data protection, corporate governance, trade-related issues.
- Providing compliance/legal training to business team.
- Liaising with external counsel when required.
Qualifications:
- Indonesia-qualified lawyer;
- Bachelor degree in Law;
- At least three year working experience as in-house counsel or law firm;
- Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia in order to liaise with the counterparts across countries;

We are looking for a qualified individual for the role of Legal Manager In Indonesia. You will report to the Head of Legal for South East Asia (inc. Hong Kong), Australia and New Zealand who is based in Singapore.
Task and Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal advice and consultancy for all departments and external legal counsel, including but not limited to, analyze legal risks/opportunities when advising the current business or when entering a business project, support associated with business process improvement, product development, operational matters, special projects and local or international expansion
- Serves as the legal lead for (i) contract negotiations, including sales, manufacturing, licensing, marketing, real estate transactions and (ii) structuring key business initiatives in a manner that helps the business achieve objectives while at the same time protecting legal, regulatory, and tax directives and considerations. Coordinates and follows up with internal and external parties as necessary to oversee and drive the agreement process.
- Liaises as appropriate with key internal and external legal, regulatory, finance, tax, treasury, procurement and other business units. Provide legal support to departmental heads and various parts of the business as required. Advise the business on all levels on legal issues and risks.
- Manages various litigation and disputes (including setting of strategy for litigation aspects such as document production, court filings, legal fees, settlement negotiations, and coordination with outside litigation counsel). Manages outside counsel relationships and budget, including obtaining fee estimates for projects and ensuring that the management and billing is in compliance with the company outside counsel policy.
- Supports the Human Resources department on employment claims and disputes, and employment and separation agreements.
- Provide continued support on the creation, standardization and implementation of the company and group policies, terms & conditions, internal working procedures and standard operational guidelines.
- Advises when needed the board of directors and management regarding corporate governance matters.
- Actively participates in the Regional Legal Network of APAC, China, Japan.
- Liaises with other legal department resources in Singapore, Darmstadt, Rockland or Billerica to ensure that effective, efficient advice consistent with corporate objectives is given.
- Keep up to date with regulations in the industry and advise the business accordingly.
- Build trust with regulators: ensure excellent communication with regulators to understand and anticipate new regulations which could impact the business; manage and coordinate meaningful reporting internally and externally; respond to information requests, and proactively communicate business changes and notifiable events.
- Manage key external relationships including lawyers, regulators, law enforcement agencies, and vendors.
Who you are:
- Bachelor of Law from a reputable law school.
- Minimum 5-8 years of working experience at prominent corporate law firms or in-house counsel in FMCG or the health/pharmaceutical industry.
- Significant experience in drafting, reviewing, and completing legal documents both in English and Indonesian, hence a high proficiency in English is a must.
- Strong legal knowledge for Pharma Industry and/ or associated legislation, regulations and guidelines, corporate law and analytical skills (both technical and operational aspects), handling commercial contracts, intellectual property and competition law, HR law, dispute resolution, licenses and permits (building, production, distribution, etc).
- Desire to play an immediate, hands-on role in the day-to-day leadership and operation of the Legal department.
- Demonstrated success in developing, implementing, and enforcing internal controls. Passion for process improvement and streamlining.
