Pluang is searching for a motivated and experienced Head of Legal & Compliance (L&C) to ensure that our business fosters the right culture, following all relevant legal, ethical, and regulatory laws & guidelines. In achieving this you will build and manage a team of L&C professionals who are at the top of their game in a hyper-growth business environment. This role is the most senior L&C position in the company and needs someone with the knowledge, gravitas and experience to guide and influence the most senior leaders, including our CEO/Co-Founders and Board. You will ensure Pluang is fully conversant with all relevant laws and regulations, and applies them to company practices to minimize financial, reputational and legal risk, whilst supporting its very ambitious growth plans.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (min 5y) in leading a L&C team, preferably in a hyper-growth fintech environment
- Demonstrated ability to mediate disagreements and resolve conflicts at the most senior levels
- You will already have, or demonstrate the ability to, develop strong relationships with our regulators (OJK and/or Bappebti)
- You will be professional, highly-analytical, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent in risk management, financial industry regulation and legal principles across Indonesia. M&A and startup fundraising experience will have added values
- Good financial products knowledge across asset classes (gold, equities, fixed income, money market). Experience with crypto currencies will be an advantage
- Self starter and highly motivated individual who can work well in a fast growing startup environment
- Fluent in Bahasa and English
Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team of specialists in Legal & Compliance
- Implement and manage a Group-wide effective legal & compliance program
- This includes reviewing relevant company policies and governance frameworks as well as processes which are always align with current regulations
- Establish and manage strong & effective relationships with relevant regulatory bodies, particularly Bappebti and OJK
- Instil a compliance-first decision-making and continuous improvement mentality
- Oversee regulatory & relevant management reporting
- Provide advice on business models and structures which are fully compliant with current regulations as the company expands into new products
- Report back to business functions on current regulatory risk and compliance performance through regular reviews, highlighting or escalating areas of concern and contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organisation
- Evaluate colleagues’ knowledge and educate them on work-related laws and regulations
- Resolve employee concerns about legal & compliance
