Legal Counsel job role is to ensure effective and efficient management of Legal Department provision of legal advisory services and management of legal and contractual risks by doing the following activities:
- Legal Advice: Demonstrates expertise and capability for adding value to business customers in advising on potentially complex IT projects, transactions, risks and issues. Established reputation for providing responsive, balanced legal and business advice, applying a business outcome and risk management informed approach. Provides Legal, Commercial and business colleagues with practical expertise, support and guidance for legal negotiations, enabling successful results from negotiated transactions and disputes with minimum legal impact to Fujitsu. Monitors relevant developments in law and practice, taking measures required to ensure compliance by Fujitsu.
- Legal / Commercial Support: Carries individual responsibility for structuring, drafting and negotiating of a range of agreements from simple to complex, working collaboratively with peers regional/leadership team and external advisers.
- Dispute Support / Case Management: Proactive engagement in managing and prosecuting disputes, including litigations, arbitrations, mediations and/or private adversarial negotiations, and contentious proceedings for a range of complexities, working closely with Legal management and, where necessary, external lawyers.
- Risk Identification, Management and Mitigation: Advises on overall and specific business risks for each opportunity, collaboratively sharing insights and lessons learned with Legal, Commercial, Sales, Business Unit and Delivery Assurance colleagues. Supports stakeholders by proactively reporting and mitigating risks, and devising sensible steps to address or otherwise manage or mitigate risk, ensuring all known issues are tabled openly with Fujitsu authorizers and approvers.
- Corporate Secretarial Support / Governance: Handles corporate secretarial matters and ensures that corporate records are readily available and kept in good order.
Requirements for the position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- 5 – 8 years of experience working in a law firm
- Experienced as attorney/lawyer, private practice and relevant IT experience is preferable
- Excellent communication with fluent English both verbal and written
