This is a role for an Indonesia-qualified lawyer to be based in Jakarta and be a part of the larger Southeast Asia legal team which is spread across a few countries in South East Asia (SEA). This is a legal generalist role to support all kinds of advisory, regulatory, contentious, and commercial work concerning Google products and services in Indonesia.

Responsibilities
- Conduct legal reviews and manage strategic projects related to Google’s product, marketing and business initiatives and work in consultation with Government Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) representatives to provide solution-oriented practical advice and innovation in Indonesia.
- Review proposed/draft legislation, work with GAPP team to advocate for improvements to the proposed/draft laws that will support an open online environment and effectively inform stakeholders and escalate to leadership internally about any regulations that impacts Google’s business in Indonesia.
- Liaise with regulators and authorities in Indonesia, manage regulatory inquiries, and autonomously handle contentious issues relating to Google’s products and operations in Indonesia.
- Advise executive management and cross-functional project teams in Asia Pacific and the USA with regard to potential legal risks in Indonesia; ensure compliance with applicable laws across all aspects of Google’s operations in the country.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s of Law, Juris Doctor, comparable law degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of relevant advisory and regulatory experience within the intellectual property, media and technology related areas in Indonesia.
Preferred qualifications:
- Combination of In-house experience with an MNC and experience in law firm.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and contract drafting skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Well-organized and able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
