International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to ensuring the basic legal rights of ordinary citizens. Specifically, IBJ works to guarantee the right to competent legal representation, the right to be protected from cruel and unusual punishment and the right to a fair trial for every man, women, and child.

IBJ’s Indonesia program is looking for an outstanding, self-motivated intern with a background in law who would like to be part of our ongoing mission to improve access to justice for women in Indonesia.

Timeline & Requirements

IBJ Indonesia welcomes law students and graduates who wish to begin a 3 – 6 month remote internship with us. (Timeframe and start dates negotiable).

Benefits

  • IBJ interns will get to work in an international, friendly, challenging and rewarding environment with direct supervisors based in both Switzerland and Indonesia. Interns will have the opportunity to attend events involving justice sector stakeholders from across Indonesia.
  • IBJ interns will work on a variety of tasks and initiatives, including: supporting our training programs for lawyers, strengthening our online communities, helping with overall program management, assisting with document translation, and contributing to our fundraising initiatives.
  • Former intern tasks have included researching criminal procedure codes and penal codes in different criminal justice systems, managing project activities, supporting the work of our local public defenders, developing online tools and resources for IBJ’s JusticeMakers community, and assisting in grant writing proposals.
  • Our intern will be provided with a stipend of 2,500,000 IDR per month

Ideal Candidate

  • We require interns to demonstrate strong research and writing skills. A degree of familiarity with global criminal justice issues as well as international non-profit management is also ideal, but not essential.
  • Native Bahasa Indonesia speaker and fluency in English.
  • Experience conducting field research is also desirable.
