Senior Legal Counsel at Lazada

Qualifications
- Must have a Law degree from an accredited law school and at least 8 – 10 years of working experience in a legal corporate environment within a fast-paced, fast-evolving and dynamic environment, preferably working as a Senior Lawyer. Prior experience in a top tier law firm (in addition to the above in-house experience) is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in Technology, Commerce or Retail industry is preferred.
- He/she must also have successful experience in leading negotiations on complex, high value, contracts, and agreements.
- Exceptionally good communication skills (written and spoken).
- Demonstrable ability to identify and remedy complex legal issues. He/she must also have exceptionally good skills in legal negotiation, and be comfortable in handling dispute resolution matters and incidents, in each case within a fast-paced business environment.
- He/she must be a result-driven and service-driven individual, has solid problem solving skills, be highly adaptable and flexible, work comfortably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, have an ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and meet tight deadlines, be proactive and self-motivated, have a keen eye for detail, and have an ability to remain calm and composed during times of uncertainty and stress.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior legal advisor, providing legal counsel and guidance and strategic advice for Lazada’s operations in Indonesia.
- Collaborates with other internal stakeholders to identify, develop and execute strategies and initiatives that accomplish the company’s business objectives while maintaining legal compliance.
- Protects, defends, and represents the company and its affiliates in external engagements with government authorities, regulators and other external parties.
- Drafts, reviews and negotiates a diverse array of complex commercial contracts, including both standardized and unique agreements.
- Ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and commercially practical legal advice on licensing, regulatory and counterparty risk.
- Incident management (e.g. responding to regulatory investigations / inspections by authorities / assisting in PR incident responses).
- Implement country-wide contract frameworks, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Implement country-wide compliance programs.
